About Me
Originally from Maryland, I currently live in San Antonio, Texas with my husband, daughter, and dog.
I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Community Health from the University of Maryland in 2006. After graduating, I worked for six and a half years at the American Kidney Fund, a non-profit health charity. My primary responsibilities concerned the development and management of health education materials for those with and at risk for kidney disease. Over time, my role expanded to include training new employees and assisting with the organization's professional education efforts, particularly the organization of its online courses. Much to my surprise, I found that I enjoyed working on the professional education projects as much, if not more than, the patient education projects. I discovered that my passion is rooted firmly in the "education" part of "health education."
In 2013, I began working toward my Master's in Education through Colorado State University's Adult Education and Training Program. There, I have been grateful to find so many experienced and talented instructors and classmates who share my enthusiasm for adult education and with whom I have learned so much. I look forward to new opportunities to utilize the knowledge and skills I have developed both through my coursework and my experience in health education.
