Teaching and Learning
On being an effective adult educator:
Much like a tree grows throughout its life, an effective adult educator constantly learns, improves, and continues to grow. Just as the stature of a tree is dependent on its root structure, the effectiveness of an adult educator is largely dependent on his or her roots, comprised of a solid teaching philosophy, ethics, and experience. At his or her core, an effective educator has passion for both teaching and the subject matter. The effective adult educator pairs information and resources with ever-expanding knowledge, enthusiasm, creativity, techniques, and credibility to encourage learners to grow their own knowledge, skills, and critical thinking. He or she teaches with empathy and respect for learners' diverse perspectives, as well as the utmost attention to learners' needs. Check out my blog for more of my thoughts on teaching and learning: |
